Whatcha making?
It has been a great week with lots of progress, happiness and gratitude so it makes sense that I’ve been making something happy. The Happy Summer Hat ticked all my crafting boxes and then some.
This Keeps Happening
I love crocheting and I enjoy sharing things about what I’m making but I’m rubbish at remembering to take photos while I’m doing it. That means that when it comes time to share what I’ve been up to with you guys I pretty much have nothing to show for it but the finished article. This is NOT good enough!

I Promise To Do Better
Starting now I’m going to make a deal with myself. Whenever I take a break from what I’m making, I’ll take progress photo to share with everyone. I’ve been pretty good with my personal promises lately so hopefully this one will stick too.
Pattern Surfing
If you follow me on social media you’ll know that I have an affinity with the Drops Designs range of patterns and yarns. They have thousands of free knitting and crochet patterns on their website and even have video tutorials to enhance crafters skills. That means that when I’m looking for a project it’s one of my go to places.
Everything You’re Looking For
They have something for everyone in their huge range. When I was looking for a quick summery pattern to work on it was easy to find something I liked. Truthfully I was spoilt for choice and had to narrow down my criteria.
The Happy Summer Hat
I settled on this cute summer bucket hat. It was partly down to having the right kind of yarn in my stash which is always good. Borrowing my husband’s hat to keep the sun out of my eyes while I was working in the garden was another good reason.

Quick and Simple
The Happy Summer Hat was everything I was looking for. The pattern was quick and super easy to follow. On those days when you have a head full of racing thoughts I wasn’t looking for anything too challenging. There were no tricky stitches, having only three different stitches in the whole pattern. That left me free to just enjoy the process and have a beautiful new hat at the end of it. Now isn’t that something worth celebrating.
So Pretty
As you can see the results of these three easy stitches produce a pretty little bucket hat perfect for keeping the summer sun out of your eyes. You can look and feel like the summer goddess you are while working through your summer reading list or sipping a decadent coctail (or both at the same time). At least that’s how I’ll imagine you! An additional bonus of this hat is, it’s such easy care. Stuffing it in your luggage, beach bag or even your pocket won’t spoil its sweet charm when you show it off. I made it in 100% cotton yarn too so it’s machine washable.

I really enjoy making crochet projects that are both useful and attractive and the Happy Summer Hat definitely qualifies. If you are not a crocheter and would like one of these practical and eye-catching hats for yourself you can find them in my shop.
